The Maid & the Unicorn

I made this piece for the Month of Masters challenge. I studied The Maid and the Unicorn by Edmund Dulac. I had never seen this illustration before. I was drawn to its quiet symbolism and the stillness between the figure and the animal.

The original was part of a series exploring Beauty and the Beast. It carries the same tension between gentleness and wildness. When recreating it, I focused on soft forms, flattened perspective, and subtle details that make the piece dreamlike.

I created this work in Procreate, then finalized the color in Photoshop.
