The Wild Swans

I created this piece as part of the Month of Masters challenge, studying an illustration I believe to be by Florence Susan Harrison for The Wild Swans. There’s a quiet mystery around its origin, which feels fitting for a story rooted in transformation, devotion, and endurance.

This tale has always felt especially beautiful to me. The sister’s devotion, the heartbreak of the children’s separation, and the magic of transformation all speak to me.

In recreating the piece, I focused on preserving the textures and storytelling, hoping to capture Elisa’s longing for her brothers.

This piece was drawn in Procreate and finished in Photoshop.
